My only home
Twilight came and covered the streets
And brilliant radiance of day was swept away
The sun was gone to other lands
All sounds ceased: ‘twas time for silence’ reign.
So Night appeared at the threshold of the fate
And opened wide the sacred gate.
“Hail thee, Blessed Night! I wait for you.
The rustle of your wings will give me freedom.
My chainless mind’s a prisoner of doom
I crave to enter in your fairy Kingdom!”
And the nocturnal stare pierced gently my soul
As Night looked at me in surprise:
“What wonders do you expect from me? - it asked, -
Child, are you ready to give sacrifice?”
And it came over me and pronounced a spell;
In the distance I heard only tinkle of bell.
Bewildered Night recoiled from me, it shook its head.
“Oh, nay! I cannot let you enter in my realm
For too much light still lives within your soul.
Unfinished fight I see in you,
And it’s your doom to choose what you should follow”.
So I was left to wander in Starlight,
My only home was hidden in Twilight.
